One solution to solving sexism would be to stop supporting music artists that itemize woman and use offensive lyrics in a degrading fashion towards women. The music industry makes women objects, has music videos with naked women, produces songs talking about rape and a women's body parts. The hip-hop/rap industry is a major offender in contributing to sexism. By changing our views on sexism, the music industry will take a blow from this. They will not stop producing scandalous videos and producing inappropriate songs, but they might start to think about what they are putting out there. Solving sexism with Hollywood involved creates a much more complicated issue at hand. Another solution; don't expose yourself to those music videos that make objects out of women. Don't listen to music that degrades women, either. Studies show that being exposed to images of objectified women gives men "greater tolerance ofsexual harassment and greater myth acceptance rape" or makes them view women as "less competent" and "less human". By not exposing yourself to these kind of harmful ideas it takes away some of the power of the music industry on society. Another solution? Recognize the media can one of the most degrading places for woman to be, and that facts given even from the news can be subject to sexism. Slut shaming is a part of the media. It's activeness in the media has shaped society to view slut shaming as okay and appropriate at times. Fact of the matter calling a woman a slut is never appropriate. That word is just another way to make women less than men and degrade them. Fact of the matter don't let the media shape your beliefs.
Our Role As Human Beings
We are all human beings, born with the same dignity given under one God. To diminish the value of a woman because she is seen as less than a men should never be accepted socially, yet it is a part of our culture today. It is our role to stop sexism. It is our role to promote human dignity. Sexism does not promote human dignity. Defacing the value of another human being, because of their gender, is not what we were intended to do on this planet. No one is ever born with a sexist mind. They become accustomed to it; Desensitized. It is our job to work on sensitizing society; making society aware of the harm they are doing to themselves and others.
